What is Nier Automata about?

Released in 2017, Nier Automata was developed by the company Platinum Games and published by the famous Square Enix. Know that this is a sequel to the game Nier which in itself is also a spin-off to the Drakengard series. The setting of the game is post-apocalyptic and takes place hundreds and thousands of years after Nier’s ending. More precisely, it takes place in 11945 AD.  The story is centered around a war that’s brewing between another world machine army invaders and the androids who are human-made. Note that the androids here lack emotions as well as true names. But they do have some particular attitudes which separate them from others. Know that there are android factions here. For example, The “YoRGa” forces us commanded from the illusive Bunker. But note that this base isn’t on earth. Instead, it’s in the orbit that’s above the planet.  They fight with the pre-YoRHa androids to drive back the otherworldly machine forces. The first protagonist is called 2B who is a YoRHa android made for combat. Note that the main traits of this android are composure and calm. But 2B is not alone in this game. There is 9S as well who is a scanner male android and shows more emotion than the other androids.  The atmosphere is dark and there are branching storylines that you will be playing. Note that if you are thinking that you will have to play all the previous games to understand this one then note that it’s not necessary. There is no narrative connection between this one and the rest of the game. However, it’s advised that you read up on Nier at least so that you can understand what is going on. 

Gameplay

The gameplay is smooth and there are zero lags in this game. Special mention must be given to the graphics because it makes the game more beautiful and playable. In the game, you will be walking around and discovering the world you are being thrust into. But apart from walking you will be able to call on a wild animal to ride on. This will cut short your travelling time.  But that’s not all. In parts of the game, you will even be able to pilot mechas to fight with enemies. There are moments in the game when you will have to jump between various platforms and overcome obstacles. There are plenty of side quests for you to complete as well. As for purchasing items, you will find that there are plenty of shops for that. You will find that there are plenty of weapons here for you to attack and defend yourself with.  Note that the game is vast and there are numerous endings. So you will find that there is a lot to do here apart from completing the main storyline.

More androids: 

Apart from 2B and 9S, you will get to play with A2. It is an attack android that’s now obsolete. The android comes with a very taciturn personality and prefers to act alone. 

Ranged weapons

The androids in the game are supported by ranged weapons robots known as Pod 153 and Pod042. If you are looking to take out someone far away then they will get the job done. 

Endings

Know that there are 26 different kinds of endings in here. There are the 5 main ones that are lettered from A straight to E. However, know that the other additional endings are lettered from F right through Z. These additional endings are made to act like game-over endings that get triggered by various actions. These actions can be losing battles or by not continuing the storyline. So you need to be careful and play to the best of your abilities.  Nier Automata is a famous game.
